Access restrictions
At least to start with, I've decided to make the initial thumbnail view of the family photos visible to anyone, but viewing the full photo content (larger uncropped photo, full caption, and all the people, period, and places tags, along with the zoomable hi-res photo mode) requires logging in, and I'll need to have reviewed your account and verified that you qualify for access.
My thinking is that making all the family photo stuff publicly accessible might make people more reluctant to comment freely. More importantly, it might make it too easy for some douchebag to use the info to build a backstory for the purpose of conning someone in the family, especially elderly family members.
I realize that people may well be reluctant to set up yet another website account, with perhaps yet another password to keep track of. And the access restriction means that you can't direct your friends here to casually check out these photos, which could be an annoyance.
What do you think? Am I being too paranoid? Or am I appropriately paranoid?
